Hello, as I am determined to get in a game of golf this afternoon, I will not waste anytime with small talk today and will begin talking to you about preventing stretch marks. There are many natural oils and creams that you can use throughout you pregnancy.
Science classes stretch marks as a form of scarring. Stretch marks are the consequence of skin being stretched further than its natural elasticity. This stretching interferes with the body’s collagen production. Collagen is what keeps the skin elastic and able to stretch as you gain weight.
To help prevent getting stretch marks, it is essential to keep a close eye on weight gain. During pregnancy you need to put on weight as a normal part of the childbearing process but you should be mindful that you do not put on more weight than your doctor recommends. This does not mean that you should starve yourself throughout pregnancy to avoid your skin over stretching and forming stretch marks. Just take care to eat sensible, healthily and gain weight slowly. This allows the skin to gradually stretch and retain its elasticity.
Some tips on preventing stretch marks during pregnancy. Olive polyphenols are known to fight free radicals and prevent their toxic effects. Use extra virgin olive oil as a skin care product during pregnancy, also take a spoonful of oil daily or mix with salads. If you don’t like the taste, you can buy olive oil capsules. Another way to improve the elasticity of your skin during pregnancy is to rub cocoa butter, although not everyone likes the smell of this product. One of the best ways of preventing stretch marks during pregnancy is coconut oil. It not only softens the skin but also promotes healing and protects against damage. As mentioned above most stretch marks are caused through connective tissue damage. Coconut oil actually helps to keep connective tissues strong and supple and in some cases can restore damaged skin.
A friend of my daughters, who is taking a course in skin care and essential oils, recommends using neroli, mandarin or lavender essential oils for preventing stretch marks during pregnancy. These oils are not used neat but a few drops are blended with carrier oil and massaged into the skin. Taking light exercise is also useful for preventing stretch marks as you gain less fat, stay fitter and regain your figure quicker afterwards.
