These weeks topic is to be how to get rid of old stretch marks. Once again, it’s that time of the week when our lounge is taken over by my daughters “exercise during pregnancy club”, I might have mentioned this before but up to this moment, I have seen no one exercising, well apart from their tongues. Most of their conversation revolves around how to keep their skin healthy and smooth.
My wife who although, obviously not pregnant is a regular participant in this group. She and my daughter have a great deal in common, especially older stretch marks and looking for ways to remove them. My contribution to their meeting this week is an article I found in an old copy of the Chicago Tribune. This was in a pile of newspapers in the back of the garage and dates go back about to 2002, and I found a story talking about new way to make old stretch marks less noticeable. Since then they have had me investigate further.
The research used Excimer lasers, previously only used for skin disease and vitiligo and found that it restored the natural pigmentation in the skin. Well to update things somewhat, I have done some research for them on getting rid of stretch marks and the use of the Excimer laser more recently.
My first findings were that the Excimer laser uses a high power ultraviolet light, which makes them extremely useful for surgery and most often it is used for eye surgery, not that this has anything to do with stretch mark removal. At last I have a list of a number of institutes and clinics performing this method to remove even the oldest stretch marks. Mission accomplished as I have handed over this list and can now retreat to the green house to perform a little surgery on some of the leaves of my plants.
Before I go I will talk a little about some of the other successful ways to prevent and remove problems with you skin. There are many over the counter skin care products on the market but although many of these are excellent for making the skin soft and supple, they do not reach the dermis, which is the middle layer of the skin where damage occurs. There are prescription but these contain Retin-A or Tretinoin and must not be used if pregnant or breast-feeding. These are also more beneficial in the removal of freshly damaged tissue and not so effective on the old white scars.
My green house is calling me so I will be back tomorrow to talk further about how to get rid of old stretch marks as my only concern at the moment is how to get rid of mouldy leaves on my plants on my plants and being here won’t help me do the job.
