Hello once again, before I talk about more ways to get rid of stretch marks, I have a few words to say to my gardening friends amongst you. September is round the corner and its time to start moving any houseplants indoors. Make sure you have checked for pests first.
I shall also be planting my fall spinach crop and spring flowering bulbs in the next couple of week. It is at this time of year I realize that Christmas is fast approaching as I start “dark treatments” with the Poinsettia plants which I have saved and if you grow gladioli make sure you dry and store them before the frost comes.
My wife has just walked past me, tapped me on the head and commented that she thought I was going to write an article about stretch marks. It never ceases to amaze me, how easy I find it to sit and write about my garden or my time on the golf course, but how to get rid of stretch marks, like the problem itself, takes a little longer.
However last time I promised you that I would find out a little more about the herb Gotu Kola and how it can help to get rid of strech marks. So true to my word – Here goes:
The herb Gotu kola is a creeper (vine) that grows in swampy areas in tropical regions and its leaves and roots are used medicinally. Apparently it is available in tablet form, capsules, extracts, powder, tinctures and as an ointment, meaning it can work from both the inside and the outside on your skin, to heal wounds, psoriasis and as a stretch mark cream.
However I think you should make up your own mind about using this herb for stretch mark removal because from my point of view I consider it is not without certain risks, and for this reason would not actually be able to recommend it one hundred percent.
Firstly it does not appear to interact well with some other medications, as well as several herbs. You should not use Gotu Kola if you are pregnant or even after the birth if you are breast-feeding. It can raise both blood sugar and cholesterol levels and may make you drowsy or dizzy.
It contains substances, which stimulate protein and collagen production to heal the stretch mark, but at the same time can make your skin sensitive the sun, so do you really want to risk painful sunburn?
P.S. From my daughter, she says she is glad she used Trilastin SR to get rid of stretch marks, as she also feels using this herb may be too risky.
